% Complete with custom percentage rather than dropdown

Added by Ivan Minárik 11 months ago

Hello all,

I need to assign % Complete to numerous states of a custom wp. Is there a way to assign a custom value (say 26%) to a status rather than those available in the dropdown? Or can a dropdown be adjusted for values? What is the reason to put a numeric value into a dropdown in the first place?

Thank you for any help.

Hi Ivan,

I assume this is a custom field named "% complete" which is basically a list with pre-configured entries. If you want a custom field to be e.g. an integer instead of a list, you can create a new field via the administration panel which better suits your needs. Please find here a guide on working with custom fields:
https://www.openproject.org/docs/system-admin-guide/custom-fields/#manage-custom-fields

Best,

Alexander

Hi Alex,

thank you for your suggestion. I was considering creating a custom field, but there is then no way to automatically adjust the value based on task status. % Complete is not a custom field but a default one, where either work-based or status-based progress is recorded (and it doesn't work too well...).

For reference, this is the feature: https://www.openproject.org/docs/system-admin-guide/manage-work-packages/work-package-status/#create-a-new-work-package-status and the attached image in my first post.

I don't think the dropdown is legally editable (i.e. in a config or through UI).

Cheers,

Ivan

Hi Ivan,

understood. I though your were referring to a custom field you already added which is something others have been working with recently.
I am afraid that these default values cannot be changed currently. If you want to bind a status to a % complete value, these drop-down options are the only ones to chose from at this point.

There is a similar feature request where you maybe want to add your vote/comment: https://community.openproject.org/wp/48715

If you want to calculate the % complete value automatically based on the values at work and remaining work, then you need switch to a work-based progress calculation: [1]

Please note that this eventually overwrites your current values.

That way, also other values are possible for % complete.

Best,

Alexander
