Using Same Child task, Multiple Parent Work Package(s)
Added by John R over 1 year ago
We have a strange request from our development team. The would like to add a single/generic "QA" task to each project as a child, but I don't believe that would be feasible? Since the child task affects the completion of the parent task/work package, wouldn't the same child than drastically affect multiple parent work package completion times?
The only way I could see this working is to use create a new child for "QA" under each parent package?
Would be interested in other people's comments on this.
Thanks!

Hi John,
if Q&A is part of multiple or even all of your projects, this seems to be less of an actual project-related work package and more like a recurring business task associated with your organization (e.g. dev department). If this is the case, you should consider not creating a work package for this. Perhaps it would be better suited to just define this in your project mandate and project documentation.
If you need Q&A in your project for keeping track of time and budget spent, you may proceed as follows:
Hope this helps you.
Looks like in the documentation

Can I set multiple parents for one work package?
No, this is not possible.
