Message never goes away and disrupts view of openproject

Added by Robert MacD over 1 year ago

Since about a month ago, the message "Workflow missing for work package sharing"  seen in the attached image appears in all openproject URLs I access for my project, and I can't find a way to make it go away.

The instructions are confusing, and attempting to follow them has not given me results so far. I am unable to make the workflow message go away, nor it is clear why it suddenly appeared.

Also, "Work package editor" doesn't even seem to be a role type that actually exists in my openproject. If you go to https://...openproject.com/admin/roles, there is no such role listed. This seems like a bug

Hello Robert,

with the update to version 13.1, we have added a new function for sharing individual work packages. This allows you to share individual work packages with people who are not members of the project and who may not even have an account in your OpenProject instance yet.

To make this possible, we have added a new role "Work package editor" to the accounts. Each role requires an associated workflow in order to be used in a project. However, as the workflows are different in every company, we could not set this automatically for everyone. This is why this message appears asking you to assign a workflow for the new role.

You can do this as follows:

- Click on the blue link in the message
- You will be taken to a menu for copying an existing workflow for the new role.
- At the top, select the workflow and the role you want to copy
- At the bottom, select "Work package editor" on the right-hand side and, e.g. all the workflows displayed on the left-hand side (you can click on several with the CTRL key)
- Then click on Copy at the bottom

If you do not have a specific preference for the workflow to be copied at the start, you can, for example, simply apply this setting (screenshot):

The banner will then disappear and you can use the new function.
You can also find a detailed description in the release notes and the documentation:

Best

Alexander

Thank for your reply, I tried a few times and it still was not working.

What finally made the message go away, was that for "Source* Type*" I selected "Production Task", a modified version of the default Task which I no longer have. Selecting for the  "Source* Type*" other options or even "Same as Target" would not make the message disappear.
