Facing issue in moving Work Package hierarchy from one Project to another

Added by Muhammad Asad Rasheed over 1 year ago

We want to copy the complete Work Package hierarchy (EPIC>FEATURES>USER STORY) from one Project to another, such that old Project Work Packages remain intact while new Work Packages IDs are created in the Destination Project. For example, this is the hierarchy I want to copy to another Project, BUT all records have new IDs:

1. When Im selecting EPIC, FEATURES and USER STORIES and using Bulk Copy option, select Destination Project Name and Click Copy, Error appears and only EPIC record is created in Destination Project.

2. When I select only FEATURES and using Bulk Copy option, select Destination Project Name and Click Copy, Error

appears But FEATURES are created in Destination Project with new IDs BUT their EPIC is not created and old Project EPIC is shown in Destination Project

3. When I select only USER STORIES and using Bulk Copy option, select Destination Project Name and Click Copy, Error appears

But USER STORIES are created in Destination Project with new IDs BUT their FEATURES/EPIC are not created and old Project FEATURES/EPIC is shown in Destination Project:

Hope it clarifies the problem.

Thanks.

Hello Muhammad

it seems like the images you provided got lost somewhere. Could you please edit your comment or add a new comment with these images to provide more context?

Thank you!

Just for more clarity, I am OK with new IDs of copied Workpackages in New Project, BUT I want complete hierarchy to copy in new Project, BUT it is showing Error, That is causing problem to me.

Hello Muhammad

that might be related to a bug recently discovered where work package relations are lost when copied:
Bug - #45533

A feature request to fix this issue and also increase its functionality is already created: #49870
Have you checked the logs for any specific error messages?

Best

Alexander
