Share Templates for different Users - Possible?
Added by Nico Spengler over 1 year ago
Dear Community,
we are trying to start creatng templates for openproject but i am a bit confused about the use of them.
When I create a template, only the admin which creates the template can choose this when creating a new project.
Is it possible to share it with other users, groups or roles?

Hello Nico,
other users can create new projects based on templates, too. To be able to access and use the project templates you have to be a member of this (template) project and additionally have to have the permission to copy projects. So you need to check whether a user has a certain role and is part of a project with template.
Please find a detailed explanation the user guide on
user roles: -> User Roles
templates: -> Templates
We have also prepared a blog post on templates which might help you to get started:
https://www.openproject.org/blog/project-templates/
Additionally, there is a feature request about being able to use templates without being a member of the template project:
https://community.openproject.org/wp/41042
Feel free to add your vote and comment so this request can get further specification.
Best
Alexander
Thanks for the information that is amazing.
