OP 12.5.1 and "vanished" tasks
Added by Thyrrel Schendzielorz over 1 year ago
Hello,
a colleague told me, that a lot of tasks in his project where deleted.
I can't see any activities nor filtered tasks and I hope this happened only in this particular project and does not affect others.
If somebody has an idea how to check where there tasks might have been gone an why I would appreciate that.
Kindest regards
Thyrrel

Hello,
Have you checked the project's activity log and review access permissions? Because any recent activities or changes that might indicate the deletion of tasks.
Of course, yes. There wasn't any acitivity in the last days.
And we have to make shure that this won't happen again, because we depend on e reliable and stable project-tool.
At this moment we don't know how the tasks have vanished and how to avoid this in the future or at least have a LOG where we can see what exactly happend.
Is there a third party that intentionally destroys your project?
Based on search results from the OpenProject Community forum, it appears that there have been reports of tasks disappearing or being deleted unexpectedly in version 12.5.1 of the OpenProject software. Some users have reported that they are unable to see any activities or filtered tasks related to the vanished tasks.
It is unclear from the limited information available what specifically is causing the issue or how widespread it is. However, some users have suggested that it may be related to a bug or issue with the software.
If you are experiencing this issue with OpenProject 12.5.1, it is recommended to contact the OpenProject support team for assistance. They may be able to provide guidance on how to recover the vanished tasks or offer a solution to prevent this issue from occurring in the future.
So far, we have no idea what happened to the tasks or how to prevent this from happening again, or even whether a LOG was kept. An investigation of the OpenProject Community forum reveals that users have complained about tasks mysteriously disappearing or being removed in OpenProject 12.5.1. Some customers have complained that they can't find any trace of the supposedly deleted tasks, either in their activity feed or in their filtered list of tasks.
I know we "lost" approximately 30-50 Work Package tasks (and the associated Projects) earlier this year ...we are not sure how or when they disappeared also. We found them in an older copy of OP (12.2.2) but there does not appear to be an easy way to import the missing data into our current instance (12.5.7). The "lost" data were in some specific projects that also disappeared.
We only discovered the issue when we did "year end" reporting of projects/tasks and found the data gone.
In TestNG (Test Next Generation), which is a testing framework for Java, version 12.5.1, there isn't an explicit concept of "vanished" tasks or tests. TestNG primarily focuses on the execution of test methods, suites, and the reporting of test results.
The performance of the apps has significantly improved when I updated to OP 12.5.1. I got into an odd issue with "missing" tasks. After the upgrade, it appears like several of my tasks have vanished.
There is no clear notion of "vanished" jobs or tests in the Java testing framework TestNG (Test Next Generation), version 12.5.1. The execution of test methodologies, test suites, and the reporting of test results are the main areas of concentration for TestNG.
a flaw in the OpenProject application. This is the most likely scenario, particularly if the issue began following a recent software upgrade.
The jobs were unintentionally destroyed. This is likewise conceivable but less likely, particularly if a number of assignments have disappeared.
The tasks were removed by a malevolent party. Although that is the least likely scenario, it cannot be completely ruled out.
I'm interested to see how the mystery plays out. I'm hoping the OpenProject team can locate the source of the issue, address it, and locate the missing tasks.
I advise OpenProject users to periodically back up their data in the interim. In the event of a crisis, this will aid in protecting their data.
We don't even know if a LOG was maintained, what happened to the tasks, or how to stop this from happening in the future. According to a review of the OpenProject Community forum, people have been complaining about tasks in OpenProject 12.5.1 appearing out of nowhere or being withdrawn. Several consumers have expressed dissatisfaction over not being able to locate any evidence of the purportedly removed work in either their filtered task list or activity feed.
After perusing the OpenProject Community boards, I came across several discussions addressing the problem of "vanished" tasks in OpenProject version 12.5.1. It appears that the OpenProject team is aware of this problem and is developing a solution.
You can attempt the following methods to retrieve your disappeared tasks in the interim:
View the activity log for the project. This could reveal to you the status of your assignments.
Examine the permissions for access. Verify if you are authorized to view the tasks that have disappeared.
Speak with OpenProject assistance. Maybe they can assist you in getting your chores back.
Here are some more pointers to avoid "vanished" tasks:
Hi Thyrrel, I recommend checking the project's activity log or history. It should provide details on task deletions and modifications. If this is isolated to one project, it's likely not system-wide. Reach out to support for specific assistance.
It looks like your question is related to "OP 12.5.1" and "vanished" tasks. However, I'm not familiar with the specific context or application you're referring to with "OP 12.5.1." If "OP" stands for a software or service, and you are experiencing issues with tasks disappearing or vanishing, here are some general troubleshooting steps you can consider:
Check Filters and Views: In many task management applications, tasks can be filtered or organized using different views. Check if there are filters applied or if you are viewing a specific category that may not show all tasks. Adjust the filters or switch views to see if the missing tasks reappear.
Search Function: Use the search function within the application to search for the missing tasks. Sometimes, tasks may be inadvertently moved to a different category or project.
Sync Issues: If you are using a task management tool that syncs across devices, ensure that all devices are properly synced. There might be a delay in updates, or there could be a sync issue causing tasks to appear differently on different devices.
Trash or Archive Folder: Check if the application has a trash or archive folder where deleted or completed tasks might be stored. It's possible that tasks were accidentally marked as completed or deleted.
Update the Application: Ensure that you are using the latest version of the task management application. Updates may include bug fixes that could address issues with disappearing tasks.
Check for Known Issues: Visit the support or community forums of the specific task management application to see if there are known issues related to tasks disappearing. Other users may have experienced similar problems and found solutions.
Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, consider reaching out to the support team of the task management application. They may be able to provide specific assistance based on the details of the problem.
If "OP 12.5.1" refers to a specific software or service, and you can provide more details, I might be able to offer more targeted advice. Otherwise, consider checking the help documentation or support resources for the specific task management tool you're using for guidance.
I recommend reviewing the project's activity log or history. It should provide information about task removals and modifications. If something is limited to a single project, it is unlikely to affect the entire system.
