Feature request: start/stop tracking time button

Added by Jeremy Case about 7 years ago

Hi all,

One thing that would work well with our work flow would be to have a simple button next to a task, etc. assigned to the user, that they could click to start tracking time on that task, and then it would turn into the corresponding stop button (maybe there’s something like this already that I’ve overlooked so chime in to set me straight). I’m imaging it on the “Work packages assigned to me” frame on “My page” and anywhere else where it would make sense. On the development end of things, to make this feature work optimally, I’m guessing this would entail some sort of autostop when a user logs out or their connection is broken, as well as a “default activity for time tracking” field in the task details, etc. Thanks for considering this! I’ve run into this feature on Freedcamp, which is much inferior in most respects.

Hello Jeremy,

Did you get some progress in this feature request? I am looking for the same. May we can create a plugin for that if nobody else have done it.

Best regards

There is an ongoing feature request (https://community.openproject.com/projects/openproject/work_packages/29151/activity) and I added a +1 acting in your place.

Jens, thank you! I will follow the request and also I willl add +1. In fact, that's very important feature!

Hey everyone,

We created a free and open source time tracker targeting Open Project. We needed it for our own work and decided to make it publicly available, so feel free to use :-)

Thanks Joschi for the app! This is one of the very few mobile app out there that we can use openproject with ease on the mobile platform.
I am also developing an app that can add / edit / delete task, project, and just integrated the time tracker function yesterday. Not because the app is not good, but when I come to use it, i realize my task keep intepruting and will need a pause function.

And just a notes, somehow I got some difficulties when first login to the time-tracker app, it said I am logged in but request me to login again. Turns out I remove the app and clean all the cache again and it is functioning. I guess it might have something to do when I first type the callback URL incorrectly.
