Save Filtered Work Package view as widget

Added by Martin Henríquez Wehr over 2 years ago

Hello!
I am new to Open Project and my manager gave me the task to make it easier for him to filter all work packages by asignee without having to manually open the filter menu each time. (as shown in the attached image)

Is there a way to add a custom widget to the "My page" or similar where this is possible?
We are using the community edition as far as I know.

Kind regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I am quite sure, the is no option for such a widget. There may be a workaround though.

Option 1:

Instruct your manager to do the following steps:

  1. Go to "my page"
  2. Add widget "workpackage table" (I hope this is the correct widget name, I am using the system in German)
  3. Configure the filter to your liking
  4. give the widget a name, for example "WPs Alice" or "WPs Bob"

Bear in mind that this would only be sensible, if the number of relevant asignees is fixed and low. Otherwise the page can become bloated rather quickly.

Option 2:

For each project you generate a public view with a preconfigured filter. You would only have to filter by a specific name.

Option 3:

You may use the API, perhaps together with the Excel-Plugin, to generate and display custom requests.

Best

Jan

Thanks for the reply, somehow I didnt get notified.

Option 1:

We only have "Calendar, Custom text, Documents, My spent time & News"
It says the "Work package graph widget" is only available in Enterprise edition (which we dont have). Is this the widget you are talking about?

Option 2:

The oprion to "save as" is greyed out. Do I need more privledges in the project to be able to do this?

Option 3:
Seems like the most flexible, but also most involved. I will try with the first two.

Kind regards,
Martin
