Running into the same problem, just started in the last couple of days. This is now completely unusable.
i can't understand. It is about Windows 10 last update or about browser?
Any ideas?
Same Problem with chrome. If i use edge, everything is fine.
Edit: Now edge hangs too ;-)
We have same problem. It happen since last week.
We have OpenProject 10.6.5 (PostgreSQL) running on docker.
Any ideas what coul be the issue?
Same problem here.
i have a local installation of CE for years with no problem; last few days, clicking on the work packages freezes the browser.
I have version CE 10.6.5 on postgreSQL
Firefox seems to be working properly, but Chrome is having issues. It only occurs when opening a task; the rest of the pages seem to work fine. This is true both on the server PC and on work PCs. Chrome mentions that it has run out of memory, but I'm using less than 50% of my RAM when this issue appears.
Seems like a browser-specific issue, so maybe there was a recent update that broke something?
EDIT: Rebooted my work computer and turned off everything I didn't need so I was around 15% RAM usage. Still seeing the same issue, no idea what this could be. I believe I updated my openproject installation last week, maybe that's related?
Same Problem here, i fixed it by removing "priority" and "category" fields in admn interface from the task layouts, but that's very unusual. I think it must be a major error, it's like unpossible to work.
I have the same problem here, it happens on Brave and Chrome. When I use edge I can use it smoothly, any idea what it could be?
I have the same problem, with Chrome, Edge, even after reboot all containers, task wont open, then out of memory is throw.
was all fine couple days ago.
I'm having the same issue in Chrome and Edge, but only on certain computers... Even stranger, it doesn't appear to be computer related, but rather user account related (Windows 10 Pro). I logged in as the Admin user and everything works fine again. The issue only started yesterday afternoon and only for a few of our company's emplloyees.
Lol! Okay, now I'm even more confused. Anyway, as previously stated, when I logged into my laptop under the admin account, openProject worked fine. Then, when I logged back in as my regular user, everything worked fine!
I did the same thing for the other employee having the problem, with the same result. She can now access the tickets without issue.
EDIT:
Now the employee's computer is not able to access openproject tasks again... I'm telling everyone to use Firefox until Chrome pushes their next update.
Maybe a local caching problem? An oboslete javascript artefact and because of login with another user it is reloaded?! Did you clear the browsercache completely?
Andreas Sturm wrote:
I did clear my cache (and by now I have most of the company trained to do that as well). And I rebooted the local computer and I rebooted the openProject server, twice. Firefox is consistantly working on all user's systems, Mac and PC, while Chrome and Edge are both hit and miss. Sometimes they work for some people and sometimes they don't... All OSs and Browsers are up to date and many are running the exact same builds and versions (both OS and Browser) yet with differing results (in terms of openProject usability).
Hi everybody,
are you using the latest version of OpenProject? Did you test to upgrade to the latest release?
Best
Niels
We have same issue today, it works well for years but meet this freeze issue just today. I use a new clear installed chrome but still freeze. Edge also have the same issue.
After click, if wait enough time you will see "Out of memory issue" (on Windows) or :SIGILL (on linux). On Windows, If open Chrome developer tool (Press F12) OpenProject still work (you should reload page after open the developer tool), close developer tool it freezes again. On linux turn on the developer tool some time works, some time doesn't.
We are using OpenProject version 12.0.10 but cannot update because the apt upgrade reached error:
Hi,
I see a lot of contributors to this post, did ANYONE have this issue in Chromium, Edge, Safari or Firefox? OR maybe was this a BUG Introduced by Google Chrome's phone home proxy :) ?
Please update to 12.4 before you report this issue. If there is an error during update from packager.io it is temporary or your firewall blocks something.
Kind regards, Adam
Same issue on our side.
Very strange. Chrome freezes on opening a workpackage - but not in every case. When using a single-tab-instance it worked fine (in most of my tests). Moving the single-tab-instance to another mutitab-instance of chrome the issues occurs directly.
Firefox (107 / 64bit) works fine for me.
Edge is also affected with some version, but it does not appear anymore on 12.4 and latest Edge

Sorry Andreas, I stand corrected, I think it might be a local caching problem... Doing an "Empty Cache and Hard Reload" seems to temporarily resolve the issue.
I can now confirm OpenProject works well with latest Chrome after update to 12.4.
Somehow last week packager.io was down at the time I upgrade, but it is now working.
If anyone still see this problem, downgrade your chrome or upgrade OpenProject should help.

Update to 12.4 and works.
As others have mentioned, upgrading to 12.4 seems to help. I was on version 10 before.
We encountered the same issue on version 10. But after we upgraded Chrome to the latest version, the problem is gone. Just to share.
