I don't quite understand where you are talking about the plan board, are you talking about work packages? Do you have a chance to explain with a picture?
From the plan board, select the 3 dots (. . .) to the right of the plan's name. Choose Plan settings from the menu. Select (to enable) or clear (to disable) Send email to the plan's group when a task is assigned or completed, and then Save.
I was talking about getting an e-mail notification when the person is assigned to the task, without any @mention. I think James Germain says it's possible to get a notification like I want.
We want to avoid that users get spammed. Because this would mean the important messages get lost in the thousands unread emails. The only person that can decide what is important is the user itself. It is not the person that does a change.
In your case the Assignees will be willing to change their personal notification settings if this helps them to do their job. But again it is the recipient's decision.
I also wrote to the place Adam's mentioned. "I think it's okay to put this as an option in email reminders. Users who are bothered by spam notifications do not activate this option. Uses also who wants to be notified." Why would it be wrong to put this as an option?
Cheers

Hi Niels, I think it is good FOR ME to have as many EMAIL notifications as I would like to have, in OpenProject 11 it was better for me, now i read: But again it is the recipient's decision. Is it currently my decision? If I could, I would decide to receive more EMAIL notifications as what I currently have. My email inbox is my redundancy to any other app, where I can work also and I store information in two places, especially for reporting, automation, knowledge collection, I cannot explain you this in another way, I am missing it and I am getting used to Notification Center, too,
I raised a feature request today because in Notification Center things could also get improved, I cannot work with the many amounts of notifications I get there, i would call it Chaos instead of SPAM... I would like to have a filter function like in my Email Inbox, and here we would reinvent the wheel, or the filtering/sorting functions... please read here about the Feature:

Hello Mertcan,
If a user is assigned or accountable for a work package, they can receive a notification in OpenProject if their notification settings are activated for this option: https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/notifications/notification-settings/
It is only possible to set up additional email reminders as described here: https://www.openproject.org/docs/getting-started/my-account/#email-reminders
Only if a user gets @mentioned in a work package, they will receive an immediate email notification if they have activated it in the settings.
Best regards
Samantha
