Use Work Package Time Spend/First Entry as "Start Date" when "Start Date" is blank

There are a number of cases where an assignee will enter "time spent" against a Work Package, but not update the Work Package "begin" or "start" date. 

Is there any way to have the Work Packages default to using the first "time spent" entry and the Work Package "Start" date, when the "Start" date is blank?
