E-Mail Notifications at tasks & mentions not sended
Added by Benjamin Hartwich over 2 years ago
Hi,
E-Mail notifications are generally working and I get notifications on new project invites, but I don´t get any mail if a task is assigned to me or I am mentioned. Is this generally not a feature yet or is there any kind of missconfiguration / bug at my new system? Where can I control such notification messages?

Hi Benjamin,
Could you please check the settings for email reminders (https://www.openproject.org/docs/getting-started/my-account/#email-reminders)?
Is the first box activated for sending an email reminder "Immediately when someone @mentions me"?
For assigned tasks you should get an in-app notification if you have activated the option "Assigned to me or accountable". Here is the description for notification settings: https://www.openproject.org/docs/user-guide/notifications/notification-settings/
Kind regards
Samantha
Benjamin, this very useful feature of sending email when anybody is assigned and so on, has been removed recently. Instead, you get a red bell in the app.
Simply, developers of OP decided to make it easy for big projects/ companies, while make it much less convenient for the occasional use of OP. Sadly, they could have satisfied both, chose not to.
If you work in OP all day, new system of notifications is fine, as you are all the time in the app. If you use it as a system to manage some aside projects, working "outside" OP, then the new changes are really a pain in a butt, as there is no way to get notified by email that someone has just did the job, and changed the status, and "oh, I can work on my part". Not possible anymore.
OP devs could have given the users the choice to "use current notification system" vs. "use new".
