Make templates usable/visible for nonadminusers

Hello, 

I am new in the world of OpenProject and I like that tool. But I have the following problem, may be I have a missunderstood about the permission settings, I am able to set projects as template when I am logged in with administratorpreveleges and with these preveleges I am also able to use these templates for new projects. But If a user without administratorpreveleges is not able to use templates, in the dropdownmenue for the user I can only see the message "no items found". Can someone tell me how I can set this in a way that the user is able to use the template.

Additional to that I have a second question. Is there a possibilty to save a projecttemplate including alle subprojects without saving all subprojects as template one by one?

Hello, 

Thank you very much for your questions!

The option to select a template for a project is only available for the administrator or project admin. Users who should be able to use project templates should be project admins in the respective project. The project templates are then visible for these users. 

Regarding your second question, we have feature request #36606. I have left a vote for you.

Hi 
I tried to follow this hint. 
Unfortunatly it works here not perfectly. 

In my openproject Area is now following Problem...
A User (not Admin) has the Global Role "Projektleiter" and there he has the permission to create a new project, but he can not the the Templates. 

Where or how can I make him Project admin before there is a Project so he can see the template while he creates the Project?

Hi 
I got an answer to my question above via Mail. 
To make a template visible for a user the person needs following permissions

  1.  To Create a new Project (Global Role) ( in presettings only administator)
  2. In the template (is like a regular project) the person needs a role which has the permission to Copy projects. (with the original settings project admin)

For Point 2. I made a Feature Request as I think there should no extra permission in the template via a role be needed.

I hope this helps others also to better understand the behaviour of templates.
