Add placeholder user to group

Is it possible to add placeholder users to a group?

We have several external supplier and I like to sort them in groups to be able

  1. assign to projects
  2. manage the spent time

Thank you very much for your question. 
Placeholder users cannot be added to groups and cannot be assigned global roles. Please find the description for placeholder users here.

Now when we add some users from our-office.net to groups of ...is just a placeholder for a user or group from a trusted external domain.
