Kanban board - can't move cards across custom statuses

(Novice user)

I created a Kanban board with custom statuses.  However, I'm unable to move cards across.  I get an error: 

"Status is invalid because no valid transition exists from old to new status for the current user's roles."  

I am an admin in the instance and project.

I'm also using a 'Status' board, as I need the columns to be custom statuses.

I also need the different statuses to show in the task's own menu, but they don't.

Hi Ahmed,

yes. The statuses need to be allowed to transition between through a workflow. The document you found and linked provides more details on how to set this up.
