What is the best method to mimic Github "labels"
Added by sylvain bougnoux almost 4 years ago
I think the "labels" feature, as in Github or Gitlab, are very powerful (labels can be seen as tags or "etiquettes"). I would like to use a similar feature in OP, mainly for WP, ie easily set (possibly create) many labels per WP & see them at a glance.
I am a bit confused, there are "custom fields" allowing eg "list", or WP "categories", or sometimes specific fields such as "version", or even "child of..." But all have pros & cons. Hence my question...
IMHO, I think the doc explains well how to use a function, but not clearly why to use it (including its pros & cons). Maybe elementary explanation, eg in the dictionary, would be useful to get the most of OP features. I agree, not a full course on project management, but how you see the project management issues, and the OP's responses in that matter.
Maybe adding a new feature such as "labels" would be nice, eg using display as in GitHub, but I am afraid things will get confused with what is already existing.
Thanks

Dear Sylvain,
Regarding the labels: Apart from using custom fields and attribute highlighting I have no good idea at the moment. Please feel free to create a feature request!
Regarding the documentation: You're absolutely right. We're working on a more use case oriented documentation which will be released and expanded within the next two years. Stay tuned!
As a first step we will add quite a few FAQ to the documentation within the next two months.
If you would like to support us here please let me know.
Kind regards
Matthias
