Linking tasks possible to other projects?
Added by Thyrrel Schendzielorz almost 4 years ago
Happy new year to all of you!
We have some "special" projects in which an (high-level) audience is involved which has nothing to do with technical aspects and tasks.
I'd like to make this clearer for you using an example:
We have three different projects in different teams (network, systems, enterprise applications) an some of the tasks/milestones/phases out of this three projects would be interesting for another high-level project. We just want to show the information from some of the tasks in our high-level project.
Is this possible in the free version of OpenProject and if yes, where can I find detailed information how to achieve this?
Kindest regards
Thyrrel

Hi Thyrrel,
I would suggest using either the projects overview, the global work package list (which you can filter according to your needs) or create a global parent project in which you include the relevant work packages (e.g. via filters).
Have you seen the new feature for only showing milestones of multiple projects, yet? https://docs.openproject.org/release-notes/11-1-0/#display-project-milestones-aggregated-for-projects-in-a-single-row-in-gantt-chart
I think this could be what you're looking for.
Kind regards
Matthias

one pattern for this would be:
Works quite well and is extremely flexible.
