Triggering re-scheduling of child work tasks

Added by pat mac over 4 years ago

I have a simple project with phases which contain tasks and milestones.

Some of the phases have set start times or end times. After adding a start time, I expected the child tasks to be rescheduled such that they start after start date of the phase.

But - the tasks are not rescheduled, and keep a date which is before the phase start date.

Can anyone help me understand what I am doing wrong, or a workaround to trigger re-scheduling of child tasks?

Hi Pat,
there are two scheduling modes: manual and automatic. In the automatic mode the dates are derived from the children. That means: What you describe is not possible at the moment. I recommend using the manual scheduling mode. This way you can plan your project top-down.

If you want to you could open a feature request for the feature you described this way.

You can find out more about the manual scheduling mode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me4cMULZKRM

Kind regards
Matthias

Thanks Matthias - the video was very informative!

I understand better now - for automatic, the parent task is scheduled around it's children, not the other way around.

I'm going to use the manual scheduling mode and plan my project top down.
