How to create tasks in a new project?

Recently I set up a new FreeBSD machine to run OpenProject 3 using nginx to serve static content. With the install instructions on the site and some googling this went fine. After starting up the production server, I could log in and create users and new projects.

Maybe I’m daft but I cannot figure out how to add tasks/work packages to the new project. There is no “new work package” button anywhere AFAICT. It seems like there should be a fold-out menu under “Work packages”, but that actually doesn’t show anything when toggled.

So I thought I must have screwed up the install somewhere, and I started up a demo instance at OpenProject.org. This behaves exactly the same.

Then I suspected my browser. I’m using Firefox 29 on FreeBSD amd64. I disabled provate browsing and every add-on. But it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Can anybody give me a pointer how to create tasks/work packages?
