Pricing on Self-Managed vs Hosted
Added by Timmy Braun about 4 years ago
I'm looking at the pricing for enterprise in self-managed vs hosted, and it seems that self-managed costs more than hosted?
I'm confused, but maybe it's because I don't know how this is usually done. I thought self-managed would be less expensive because then OpenProject does not need to supply server resources for it.
Basically just double checking, self-managed is $405 USD for 5 users / 1 year, and hosted is $275 for the same package?

Hi Timmy,
yes, you got that right. Enterprise on-premises gives you full data sovereignty, the possibility to use self-developed plugins, connection to your LDAP and much more, while being more effort to handle for OpenProject. That's why the Enterprise cloud is cheaper than the on-premises version. You can find a full feature comparison here: https://www.openproject.org/pricing/#compare

Thank you for the explanation, makes sense.
Kind regards
I currently am using the community edition on my own server.
If I upgrade to enterprise hosted, will I be able to restore my data to the cloud?
Hi Timmy,
when you book the Enterprise cloud we can migrate your OpenProject instance to our servers for free. Please contact sales [at] openproject. com for further information.
Kind regards
