Activate auto generated project numbers
Added by Florian Vieser-Barker over 2 years ago
Hey,
so I am fairly new to OpenProject and I was trying to find some kind of project number within a project. I started digging and finally received some read-only root level access to investigate further. It turns out the option of auto generation of project numbers is not activated in my installation.
My question what happens if I activate this option now after having already created several dozend projects. Is the auto generated number applied in the past or only applied to new future projects? I read through the documentation and couldn't find a similar issue.
I use a OpenProject 10.5.1 with a PostgreSQL database on a CentOS7 server.
Kind regards,
Flo

Hey Flo,
are you refering to the sequential project identifier (https://docs.openproject.org/system-admin-guide/system-settings/project-system-settings/#project-system-settings, Number 3)?
Kind regards
Matthias
Hi Matthias,
Yes, I was trying to add something like a Project nubmer through this option. Like P12345678 and then have that increment on every new project, but I think this is only available for new project and not backwards for existing ones. Manual editing of the database could also work, but I do not know if that is messing with the OP config and data consistency
Kind regards,
Flo
