Migration from bitbuket

Added by Jorge Moraleda over 4 years ago

Hello,

I have been using bitbucket for several years for git hosting as well as issue tracking. I have been reasonably happy but I wanted better time management and scheduling features, so I have been giving the community edition of openproject a try and I am liking what I am seeing, in particular its support for timelines and gantt charts.

It has been straighforward to port my git repo from bitbucket to a managed git repo in openproject, but I am not sure what is the best way to port my issues from bitbucket in an automatic, or semi-automatic way so I would like to ask in case someone else has experience with this.

It has been straightforward to export issues from Bitbucket into json (https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/issue-import-and-export-data-format/) but I am not user what is the best way to import them back into openproject.

For scale, I have several hundred issues with attachments and comments. Many are closed, so importing them is not completely required, although it would be nice to keep the history if possible.

Thank you
