How to change the possible project status ?

Added by Benoit PETIT-DEMOULIERE over 3 years ago

Hello,

i managed to install a fresh copy on ubuntu 18.04. It's working well and i really appreciate what i'm discovering.

One thing i did not find still is the place where i can change the item for project status : OFF track, ON track ..

I did not find a way to change these items.

Any clue ?

thanks

Hello Benoit,

the status values themselves are fixed to the three traffic light ones (+ one undefined state) , however you can use the status description to customize the status.

Best

Oliver

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't get the idea behind that fixed field.

It would be great to allow to edit  that list with more precise status.

How to mention that a whole project is on hold, canceled, archived, finished?

I don't catch the logic behind this field..

+1 for custom project status values.

Could this be implemented via "Enumerations"?

Hello.

I'm currently trying to mvoe our company to openproject as we have some time to work on our tool during the COVID shutdown.

Where can I make a request for this possible change ?

I'd like to have an Admin access to this field, to define differente potential status that would fit our activity.

Thanks a lot !

Somehow I don't get it: for me there is a real difference between

  • the traffic light status (as currently implemented): which is a sort of ad-hoc reporting status
  • status values 'planned', 'cleared', 'initiated', 'running', ... 'closed' and whatever you can think of which are progress status values.

Why not use custom fields for storing progress status values?

RE: How to change the possible project status ? - Added by Benoit PETIT-DEMOULIERE over 2 years ago

I'd prefer to use the status as there is a widget dedicated for that and that specific field is called easily, instead of custom field.

I like the red/orange/green sign, but not the text attached to that.

as it's hardcoded, I could just modify the text in the source code, but that seems counterproductive..

Dear all,

We have a two feature requests for this here: #34708  and #34079

Please check to see if one of these matches your requirements. Feel free to add a comment if anything is missing.

Kind regards,
Matthias
