Very high data transfer volumes out of server

Added by Vanya Smythe about 5 years ago

We installed OpenProject Community edition on a hosted server.

By process of elimination we confirmed that OpenProject was transferring more than 100Gb out of the server every day.

We shut down all applications other than OP. The problem persisted until we shut down OP, then the high data transfer volumes stopped immediately.

Can anyone give us a few pointers of things to check?

We had only two projects running, with 100 or so tasks/work packages set up and four users.

Thanks.

Hi Vanya,

OpenProject does not maintain any outside connections except the web connections to the client and (if configured by you) outside connections such as outgoing webhooks. You should be seeing the same traffic from the outer apache by inspecting the logs (cf. this link), so I'm not sure what might causing this if you are not downloading a large asset or attachment very often. Please inspect the aforementioned access logs to find any unusual access.

Best

Oliver
