Modifying Default Work Package Views

Added by Herbert Cruz over 5 years ago

Hello:

Is it possible to modify the default Work Package views either system-wide or on a per project basis?

I'd like the manual package order to be the default view instead of the automatic one.

Thanks.

Yes, you can create your own "Views" for Work Packages.

First, modify the columns you see & their order by clicking on the ... menu icon on the top-right and selecting "Configure View."

Then, applies filters to modify what you wish to see (i.e. only closed tasks, etc.) by clicking on the Filter menu on the top-right of the view.

When you are done with your changes, save your new "View" by clicking on the ... menu icon on the top-right and selecting either "Save" [current view] or "Save as ..." to create a unique view.

I have the same question but the given answer did not work for me. On the one hand it seems that the question's focus on "either system-wide or on a per project basis" was not touched and the answer sounds like it's possible on both levels, on the other hand I can not modify a default view, I can only derive a new one based on a default which does not become a default view.

What I am really interested in: to have either a Work Package Default View changed system-wide or to have another view (being derived from a default view) to become a new additional system-wide Default View.

After changing a default view and choosing "Save" [current view] the default view is not altered, instead it turns into a "Save as ...". For this I can give a name and select Public and/or Favored. Public makes the view available for others of exactly this one project under a new category of views below the default views called "Public Views" otherwise it stays private (but again only for this project's work packages) and appears under a new category "Private Views". Favored is a personal setting for any view (Default, Public, or Private) and moves the view ahead of "Default Views" in a new category "Favorite Views".

Is anything of #31423 already implemented? Maybe in the Enterprise Edition only? Or is currently "Administration -> Work packages -> Settings -> Customize the appearance of the work package lists" the only mean to change something about the default views at all?

Happy new year, everyone!
At the moment it is not possible to change the default view, neither per-project nor instance-wide.

The respective feature request is #31423 (as Jürgen pointed out correctly). It is still in status "new" and has not been implemented yet. Please feel free to leave a comment there, showing your support.

Kind regards
Matthias
