[solved] Work package history-entry cannot be edited by owner
Added by Bernd Müller over 10 years ago
Hi!
I stumbled into following problem…
The co-worker A has created a work package (wp) and wrote some lines in the description field. Co-worker B updated this wp and added some notes. The changes B made appears a “History” entry, so far so good.
Now, unfortunately he made some typos and wanted to edit what he has written. But it seems like there is no chance that he could do it. Interestingly B can edit the description that A made, but not what he has written.
Any ideas what B should do to edit his own text?
Cheers
Bernd
PS: I logged on as a admin-user and I was able to edit what B has written, but this is of course not an option ;-)

I guess that this is related to the user rights. But why shouldn’t the owner/writer of a comment not have to the right to edit his own writings?
Hi Bernd,
You can (or cannot) give a user the permission to edit his own comments :) (don’t ask me why someone could not be allowed to edit his own entries.. but we have an option for that ;)).
Visit the
administration page -> roles and permissions
and click on the role which the affected user has.Now you can see a long list of permissions for that roles. Here select ‘edit own notes’ under ‘Work Package tracking’:
I hope that solves the problem :)

Yes, in deed! I was about to write that I found this option.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers…
PS: Wouldn’t it make sense to have this option activated by default?
