Mysql2 Error - unable to get certificate from /etc/openproject/addons/mysql/

Added by Angus Beath over 5 years ago

Hi everyone, hoping to get some help here. Have a long term install of OpenProject (up to date) that recently started to throw this error in the logs:

OpenProject openproject-worker-1.service[22132]: [ERROR] SSL error: Unable to get certificate from '/etc/openproject/addons/mysql/client-cert.pem'

OpenProject openproject-worker-1.service[22132]: rake aborted!

OpenProject openproject-worker-1.service[22132]: Mysql2::Error::ConnectionError: SSL connection error: Unable to get certificate

OpenProject is dead in the water and I can't recover it from a backup. It was working on Monday (I updated a project) so it's magically broken in the time since then. There is no file in the /etc/openproject/addons/mysql/ folder. I use Let's Encrypt to provide SSL certs for the site and that's all up to date.

Help!

Angus

Dear Angus,

your application cannot be up to date. We deprecated MySQL support in OpenProject 9 in May this year for reasons detailed in this blog post and pulled support in Openproject 10 released in september.

If this happened during an upgrade, please follow our guides to migrate from MySQL to PostgreSQL.

Best

Oliver

Hi Oliver,

that was indeed the problem. Thank you for your post I'm back up and running with PostgreSQL.

Regards,

Angus
