Questions before switching from Jira to OpenProject
Added by Alex von Siebenthal over 5 years ago
Dear all,
I've sent an inquiry to the OpenProject mailbox but haven't got a response so far. Hence, I would like to consult the community.
We're a small startup working with Jira since 3 years. We get more and more frustrated with this bloatware. OpenProject seems to be a viable alternative and likely covers all our major needs.
I saw that there's a Github Integration – this is pretty important for us to keep Issues in sync with our Repositories, branches and commits. However, I fail to see how I can activate this plugin in the cloud edition (14 day trial account). Is it safe to assume that this only works for self-hosted version?
Secondly, I found a view that somewhat resembles a Kanban board. However, it seems to be tied to stories (first column), that cannot be moved between status columns themselves (see Screenshot attached). Is there a way to get a standard Kanban board view like in Jira and all the other Agile PM tools? I simply need a n-column view where team members can shift issues (of any type) between them.
Lastly, the Backlog overview only features the story points in the last column. We don't work with story points but time estimates instead. Is there a way to exchange the story points with the time estimates instead? See screenshot attached.
Thanks for your assistance,
Alex

You always will be working with story points when using the backlog plugin. So the answer is no, you can't switch the column to estimated times.
