Impossible to have 2 relations between the same (work-)package?

Added by martin hombach about 6 years ago

Hi,

i just started using OpenProject and i am troubled with something:

I have a package A and a package B.
I have set the relation "B follows A" (so: "First finish A, then start with B").

Now i want to, in addition to the above, set a relation between A and B for "B is blocked by A", so "You can not start with B until A has finished").
But when i try to set that new relation, the textbox isn't autocompleting to the new issue and when i try to type the id manually ("#12345" for example), the textbox marks this as read and cannot save.

When i release the first "follow"-relation, i then can set the "block"-relation without any problem.

There must be a way to set those 2 relations in my opinion, because, as i said, for my use-case it's definitely needed (and my use-case is not something very special in my opinion):

In my use-case attached.

"Test 2" is followed by "Test 1", which you can see indicated by the blue line. But on "Test 2" i can set the status to whatever i want, even "in progress" or "closed".

Please tell me, this is some setting i can change as administrator or that this is a known issue and will be fixed soon :/

Hi Martin,

work packages currently can only have one type of relation at a time. (This cannot be configured.)

It is a valid argument that sometimes multiple relations should be applied between work packages.

Feel free to open a feature request for this if this is important to you.
