What are Attachment Digest / Hashes Used for, within OpenProject?

Added by Jacob A about 6 years ago

I'm so excited to be learning about OpenProject! What a great piece of software!

I'm wondering whether file attachment digest / md5 hashes are actually used by OpenProject internally (for example, for checking that files are not corrupted). Specifically, if I were to manually overwrite a file attachment (by manually overwriting an old version of the file with a newer version, for example), causing the md5 hash to be different from what OpenProject has recorded for it, will that cause any problems with OpenProject itself?

I would be grateful for any advice!
