Work Packages Sorting + Hierarchical View

Using 8.20 - Community Edition - Is anybody able to sort work packages and still use the hierarchical view at the same time?

I've been evaluating OpenProject for a few days to use it for planning rather complex projects and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it's pretty much useless when I can't hierarchically display all projects steps and sort them at the same time. I've read that reordering work packages by drag and drop is not yet possible (which I think is a definite must have for a project management solution - can you imagine MS Project without being able to reorder lines?)

I haven't found out how to influence the sort order of the hierarchical work packages display.

Any time I want to sort it the hierarchical display vanishes

I wonder if it's worth waiting for further development?

I've spent an hour trying to understand sorting in the hierarchy view, and ultimately have come across your post that describes the same thing I am seeing. 

Is this intentional or just a current drawback that might be fixed in the future?

I just found a possible fix in the Release Notes for 8.3.0

We're planning an upgrade soon to hopefully allow sorting with hierarchy.

Hello Kevin, hello Felix,

sorting the work package list while the hierarchy is activated works again with OpenProject 8.3 - just as Kevin mentioned.

To get an overview of this and additional improvements in OpenProject 8.3 take a look at the release notes for OpenProject 8.3.
