Hi everyone,
I’ve been exploring ways to help beginners feel less overwhelmed when starting with project management tools.
As a small personal project, I created a short conceptual guide inspired by OpenProject. Instead of focusing on features, it explains the system through a simple mental model:
a project as a journey
tasks, boards, and timelines as different views of the same underlying system
common beginner misunderstandings
I also recorded a short video that uses a similar idea (project as a container) and includes a brief OpenProject demo.
Here’s the written guide (It’s in Notion, but you can find a PDF version on the page to download):
Here’s the video:
I’d also love to hear how you usually see beginners approach OpenProject for the first time, and whether this kind of conceptual explanation resonates with your experience.
