API v1 and API v2 deprecated, v3 in development

API v1 will be removed with OpenProject 4.0, API v2 later, but is deprecated now. We're working on API version 3.

Added by Michael Frister almost 11 years ago

With API v1 coming from Redmine and API v2 never being properly documented and stabilized, we decided to create a new API version 3. To fully concentrate our efforts on API v3, we decided to mark both existing versions of the API as deprecated.

API v1 is deprecated now (since 3.0.2) and will be removed in the next major release of OpenProject, version 4.0.

API v2 was never stable and is mostly used internally by some parts of the OpenProject frontend and should also be considered deprecated. It won’t be removed in OpenProject 4.0, but will be in a later version, so please don’t start implementing against it.

We’re currently specifying an API version 3 on GitHub

Our goal is to provide a more consistent, stable and enjoyable API with version 3 and we welcome any feedback you might have. Just create a pull request on GitHub or create a thread in the forums and tell us what you think.
