The OpenProject team does **not** provide Long Term Support. long-term support. The main reasons are:
* Backporting to older releases creates high development, quality assurance, and support costs. This time is better invested in building software releases that solve problems.
* Supporting parallel versions discourages incremental upgrades, which over time accumulate complexity and create upgrade challenges for all users. The goal of the OpenProject team is to make incremental upgrades (and installations) as simple as possible.
* Even though OpenProject invests heavily in test automation, those automated tests cannot avoid all regressions when backporting bug fixes. This results in significant additional effort for the development and QA teams.
OpenProject provides free hosting as part of its Cloud edition. Edition. With the Cloud edition, Edition, admins do not need to worry about software upgrades.
