**As a** project portfolio manager
**I want to** have an overview of the project timeline of the projects in different portfolios
**So that I** can more easily understand the status of each project in order to make portfolios decisions.
#### Acceptance criteria
**Administration**
* There is a feature flag to activate the new feature.
* EE: In the administration, there is a UI to define stages and gates (Administration -> Project -> Stages and gates)
* There is setting to differentiate a gate from a stage:
* A gate has only one date.
* A gate is visualized as a "diamond".
* There is a UI to select a color for each stage type/gate type.
**Project settings**
* Stages and gates can be activated and deactivated at a project level (similiar to project attributes).
* A dedicated project permission is required to do this.
* When copying projects the active status of gates and stages are copied too.
**Project overview**
* In the Project Overview there is a UI to show and edit stages and gates that are enabled for that project.
* There is a project permission to **see all** stages and gates in a project.
* There is a project permission to **edit all** stages and gates in a project.
* There is an edit action to be able to edit the dates for each stage and gate.
**Project list**
* Select stages and gates as columns for a project list
* _\[Open:\] Should it be possible not to display certain stages? When would it be useful to only show some stages?_
* The stage/gate is indicated in the column header as colored icon next to the name.
**Work package**
* A stage/gate is an attribute of a work package (similar to versions)
* The type form configuration also included the attribute (stage/gate).
* Open:
* Can a work package be assigned to multiple stages?
* If yes, how would this affect scheduling? Would packages that start "As soon as possible" that don't have a predecessor take the start date of the earliest available stage?
* Can a work package be assigned to a gate (checklist items)?
* Work packages can be filtered for stages and gates (similar to versions).
**Out of scope**
* Dedicated end point for start and finish date of a project
* Project types
* Automatic scheduling and duration
* Inheritance/sharing
* Timeline/Gantt
