Backlog grooming (refinement) sessions are essential for agile teams to review, prioritize, and prepare work items for upcoming sprints. As backlogs grow, they become increasingly difficult to navigate and prioritize effectively. Backlog buckets provide a way to segment the backlog into logical groups - such as time horizons, themes, readiness levels, or custom categories - making grooming sessions more focused and productive.
The backlog buckets feature introduces configurable, named containers within the backlog column. Users can create, rename, reorder, and delete buckets. Work packages can be dragged into buckets or assigned via a field within the work package itself. During grooming, the team can focus on one bucket at a time, moving items between buckets as priorities evolve.
