## OPEN POINTS / FEEDBACK

| ID | Subject | Status | Decision |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| COMMS-37 | Should the list of available emojis be configurable by admins or static? | decided | For now we go with a static list. And then we quickly introduce a full EMOJI picker with all possible EMOJI. |
| COMMS-38 | Which emojis should be in the static list/default preset? | resolved | We will start with the static set of GitHub. Later, we will have a full EMOJI picker. |
| COMMS-39 | Should the tooltip-list of reacting users be limited? | decided | |
| COMMS-40 | How to deal with reacting usernames list on mobile? | rejected | |
| COMMS-41 | Should a new reaction trigger a notification to the author of the comment? | decided | Launch the feature without notifications for emoji reactions, considering expanding it in a later release. |
| COMMS-42 | What about skin-tone support? | decided | Skip skin tone support for the first couple of iterations |
| COMMS-76 | Should readers be able to add emoji reactions? | decided | EMOJIs are short comments. We already have a separate permission for commenting. Let's use that one. |
| COMMS-94 | Add reactions button should not be hidden when user has exhausted all reactions | decided | |
| COMMS-95 | On Mobile it's difficult/impossible to see the users that reacted. iOS activates "long press" that previews a link | new | |
| COMMS-97 | Should aria labels of emoji reactions be localised? | new | |

## Description

**As** a user
**I want to** be able to put a thumbs up or other Emoji as a reaction on certain events, first of all on work package comments
**so that** its clear that I have seen the changes without having to post a comment or even write a mail with my agreement.

#### **Acceptance criteria**

  - Workpackage comments (Journals with notes) show an "add-emoji"-button on the bottom left below the written comment

  - Clicking on this button show a Primer Overlay with a horizontal list of available emojis

      - Following the approach seen on GitHub itself, this is a rather limited list of 8 emojis

          - Open in this context:

          - <mention class="mention" data-id="56166" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56166">\#56166</mention> Should the list of available emojis be configurable by admins or static?

          - <mention class="mention" data-id="56167" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56167">\#56167</mention> Which emojis should be in the static list/default preset?

      - Clicking on one emoji immediately adds this reaction to the comment, the overlay gets closed

  - On the right of the add-button, all reactions are show with their own button, including:

      - their emoji and count

      - if the acting user has reacted with this emoji, the button gets an accent background color

      - hovering over the emoji buttons shows a tooltip,

          - where the users which reacted with this emoji are listed in a comma-separated list

          - up to 5 users, after that "and N others" is shown

              - Open in this context:

                  - <mention class="mention" data-id="56169" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56169">\#56169</mention> Should the tooltip-list of reacting users be limited?

                  - <mention class="mention" data-id="56170" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56170">\#56170</mention> How to deal with reacting usernames list on mobile?

              - Visually, show just names: "{user A}, {user B} and {user C}"

              - ARIA-label, show names and emoji type: "{Name of emoji} by {user A}, {user B} and {user C}".

      - clicking on this button will

          - if not already reacted with this emoji

              - let the acting user react with the same emoji immediately

          - if already reacted with this emoji

              - let the acting user remove this emoji reaction immediately

  - A user can react with all available emojis and is not limited to one reaction

  - Open in general:

      - <mention class="mention" data-id="56171" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56171">\#56171</mention>  Should a new reaction trigger a notification to the author of the comment?

      - <mention class="mention" data-id="56172" data-type="work_package" data-text="#56172">\#56172</mention> What about skin-tone support?
