Responsive theme for OpenProject 4?

I just recently got OpenProject up and running on my server. I started playing around with the options and testing to see what all it could do. I noticed that the default theme for OpenProject is not responsive or mobile-friendly. I was wondering if there’s another responsive theme that could be loaded or if there were plans on making the default theme responsive in the near future? I read another forum post from a few months ago where Robin stated that a dedicated mobile app wasn’t currently in the works. I wouldn’t want a dedicated app regardless - just a responsive theme so we can use the site on our tablets and phones.

Hi Justin,

thanks for your question.
The themes in OpenProject currently change only the design / look of OpenProject but do not affect responsiveness.
However, for newly developed features responsiveness is definitely an important criterion (independent from the chosen theme): The new work package page for example uses media queries to display work package information in a split screen. (For smaller devices the option to activate the split screen is not activated.)
The scheduled new full-screen view for work packages (#16364) is planned to include different layouts depending on the device-width (which will support tablets and larger monitors but probably not smartphones).

We are always curious to learn which (mobile) use cases are particularly requested.
Are there specific features, modules, plugins (or specific use cases thereof) which you would especially like to use via a mobile device (tablet or phone)?
For example: While I could well imagine reading work packages and work package updates on a smartphone, I would rather not want to create many work packages on a smartphone.

We would really appreciate any input. :)

Personally, I would like to see my work packages which have upcoming due dates on my phone. Maybe the next 5 or 10 in a list (whatever fits most comfortably on the screen).

I’d also like to be able to update the status of any work package from my phone, easily (say I’m in another department watching people test my work; it passes, so I whip out my phone and check off that work package, then open the next testing wp and get that testing started).

Being able to see recent activity and view documents from the project would be useful, too.

Being able to see Gantt charts while in meetings, as well as progress on wp completion (as in the work packages view), would be really useful too.

thanks for your input. This is very helpful.
In the near future a responsive, mobile-friendly solution is probably not possible, but as soon as there is an update, we’ll announce it.
